July 18th, 2-5pm pm @ Friends Forever Studio (285 Rantoul St, Beverly, Pond St entrance) with Haley!

An easy-to-sew, beginner-friendly project for anyone looking for a sustainable, reusable bag with vintage charm. In this three-hour class, you’ll transform a beautiful vintage textile into a functional market bag while learning foundational sewing skills.

This workshop is perfect for friends wanting to try a new craft together or anyone curious about sewing. Expect sewing basics with a welcoming atmosphere of community and creativity—and walk away with both a finished bag and new connections. 

IMPORTANT: Students can bring their own machine or register for a sewing machine to use. 

Who is this class for:

Perfect for farmers market lovers or CSA pickups, estate state shoppers and consummate thrifters, this bag packs down small, and fits more than your average tote bag. Bring it to your next beach day, pool party or picnic to show off your skills!

  • limited # of machines available - tell us at checkout if you need to use our machine or if you will be bringing your own.

Seltzers will be available! 

All materials needed will be supplied and you’ll bring home your project on the same day.

Haley Houseman is a lifelong textile enthusiast and writer who learned to sew at her mother’s side as soon as she could reach the foot pedal. With a deep family history of sewing, tailoring, and craft education, she brings generations of knowledge to the classroom—along with a love of making that spans spinning, weaving, sewing, and more. She teaches and provides mending services across the Greater Boston area. Her classes aim to demystify the crafts we yearn to learn, and are rooted in both skill-building and storytelling—helping students feel at home with their tools and empowered to bring their ideas to life.

Frequently asked questions

In the event of a workshop cancellation by the instructor or Friends Forever, all attendees will be notified and receive a full refund and notified of a rain date if any.

There is a 5-day cancellation window for attendees. You can cancel your reservation within 5 days before the class date to receive a refund. Cancellations after the 5-day window will not be refunded.

In the event of a rescheduled class, patrons with already purchased tickets will be notified and get first priority for seats for the new date. New and remaining seats -- if any -- will then be opened up to the public for purchase.

We are open to hosting fundraisers, birthday parties, bachelorette parties, or other events for ages 18 and up. Please also include in your email if you'd like the studio to also host a workshop for your event - ex: block printing, painting, spell jar making, etc

Photographs may be taken at any of the FFS workshops and may be used in future marketing of the studio and it's events

Unfortunately no, we are an adults-only studio space. All our classes are 18+ unless otherwise stated.
